Everybody loves croutons: they add a lot of flavor to our salads, and are even good to munch on their own. However, they are not the healthiest! Store-bought croutons have a lot of calories and artificial ingredients that don’t contribute to your nutrition.

Still, as mentioned above, croutons taste good, so if you want to add them to your salad without the unnecessary junk, you can make your own healthy version at home! Great Harvest in Nashua will tell you how in this post.

How to Make Healthy Croutons

Go for the Good Ingredients

-Whole-Grain Bread
-Olive Oil
-Flavor (parmesan, garlic, herbs, etc.)

Start Heating Up

You’ll need to use the oven for this, so start by preheating it at 350 degrees. Just leave it getting ready while you begin preparing the rest.

Slice and Season

Take your loaf of delicious bread and cut it up in about 1 inch squares (however big you like them). Then, sprinkle the flavorful ingredients over it. You can add as much as you want!

Place Them Nicely

Now, get your baking sheet out and spread the olive oil all over it. After that’s one, carefully place the bread cubes on it, leaving enough space for each one so they cook evenly.

Bake Off!

Place the bread in the preheated oven and let it bake for 5 minutes until they get that golden color and crunchy feel. Turn the croutons over and bake them for 5 more on the other side.
